                         Getting to know me
More than 25 years of experience help make me an outstanding communications professional. I am an award-winning writer, editor, and designer of publications, special projects, and promotional materials. I enjoy learning and am continuing to develop my skill set in videography and video editing.

Communication

• For more than 25 years I have worked as a communications professional, with the majority of that time coming as a member of the media. I have served multiple terms as a member of the Kentucky Press Association's board of directors, most recently as the chair of the organization's news editorial division.

• I have well-established relationships with members of the print, digital, and broadcast media across Kentucky and beyond. These relationships give me an unparalleled ability to arrange media coverage of events and information while making sure that information is presented to a wide audience.

Event planning and execution

• I planned quarterly graduation ceremonies for Isaiah House, a non-profit treatment facility. My responsibilities included securing a different venue for each event, arranging a guest speaker, and preparing the program to recognize groups of 30 to 50 graduates.

• Isaiah House had not hosted a fundraising banquet prior to my employment as resource development director. In my role, I worked with my staff of three to schedule this event, which was held at Embassy Suites Hotel in Lexington. The evening included a formal dinner for approximately 300 people, a silent auction, and a special message encouraging the carefully selected guests to donate to support the center. At the end of the evening, more than $48,000 was raised.

• I managed donations and tracked them through an online database, then followed up with thank-you correspondence to the donors. I also designed brochures, annual reports, and other handouts, as well as merchandise that was sold at special events and through the facility's website. I kept records of the inventory of all of these items and reordered them as necessary.

• Visitors regularly toured the treatment facility and they included families looking to get help for a loved one as well as elected officials, law enforcement representatives, and potential donors. My staff and I were responsible for conducting these tours and giving an overview of the services provided and answering any questions the visitors would have.

• In addition to visitors coming to the center, my staff and I would attend events across Central and Eastern Kentucky to represent the center. We would network with those in attendance while distributing information and speaking with potential donors and partners in providing recovery services.

Special skills

• My background includes more than two decades of using products that make up the Adobe Creative Suite of software, with expert-level skills in Photoshop, InDesign, and InCopy.

• Associated Press Style is followed closely by media outlets, especially in print, and my knowledge of the stylebook goes into everything I write, making sure any content I create is as well-prepared as possible for prompt publication.

• My writing, photography, and design work have all won numerous awards through the Kentucky Press Association.

• Professionalism is vital in a role that publicly represents any organization, and I am a person who has the ability to speak with anyone in any walk of life. I am comfortable working with everyday citizens as well as elected officials. My work has taken me from small farms in rural communities to state capitols and even The White House. I carry myself in a professional manner and serve as an excellent representative of my employer at all times.
